Get Used To It, Kid

Today the Pirates trotted out the following batting order:

Duffy, CF
Wilson, SS
Casey, 1B
Bay, LF
Randa, 3B
Burnitz, RF
Castillo, 2B
Cota, C

The result was a 5-2 loss to the Brewers despite Oliver Perez being in 2004 form... and one official at bat for poor Jason Bay, to go along with three walks.

Now I'm not saying he'll challenge Bonds' single season walk record, but he is on pace for 486 of 'em (*cough*). But really, barring the bases being loaded or something, is anyone going to have any reason to give Bay anything to hit? Ever?

Who was Jason Bay's protection last year? Daryle Ward? Perhaps Jim Tracy will use enough common sense to flip Bay and Casey in the lineup, though you might want to ask DodgerThoughts what they think about Tracy's common sense...

Tracy's common sense? Leave it to him to make sure a healthy Craig Wilson, a guy capable of hitting 25 homeruns, can't play everyday to offer some protection to Bay. No, he has to have the scrappy Chris Duffy in the lineup playing center. Burnitz could patrol center, granted not as well, but well enough to certainly justify a better offensive lineup. Poor Pirate fans. They're staring at least three years of Tracy's incompetence.

Tracy's common sense wasn't the problem. It was his sixth sense. He saw dead careers when other people didn't. Jason Phillips at first base... I see dead careers!
